ようこそ!
Welcome to my page on Japanese! Below are the pages I have authored on Japanese:
The pages below are not specifically about Japanese but may be of interest to a Japanese learner:
- On Chinese characters—or 漢字 kanji in Japanese
- On learning languages—general tips
Links and Resources
Resources for learning to use Japanese are plentiful. Here, I just list English language resources that have been helpful to me. If you already speak Korean or Chinese, you may find resources in those languages more useful as you can leverage your existing East Asian knowledge to learn faster. As with any other language, the sooner you can get to the stage where you can learn about Japanese in Japanese, the better.
Online Resources
Combined with media binging (YouTube, anime, whatever) these resources should be sufficient to get you comfortable with Japanese. These are all free to use!
- Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese—a comprehensive textbook that will give the motivated self-learner a good grasp of (modern) Japanese
- WWWJDIC—powerful collection of Japanese lexical resources
- jisho.org—free online japanese dictionary with a more modern UI
- rikaikun browser popup dictionary
